The following suggestions are proposed for improving the heritage around the Category 'A' listed Banff Harbour.
1) Propose that a replica pole and beacon be made and re-erected. And if possible further propose that it be ceremoniously lit once a year.
2) The East Jetty has an old stone which once read 'Macdonald's Jetty', propose that this be re-cut, or a new sign made. (Macdonald died in a lifeboat tragedy). Also propose that an information panel be erected giving info on the lifeboat disaster.
3) Propose that the barometer box and notice board at the Battery Green erected in 1858, be refurbished by fitting new safety glass or perspex to the door, and sanding down, staining and varnishing. In Portgordon Harbour they have a drawing of a Barometer inside their one, propose Banff does the same. (Where is the original barometer?) Also propose that the notice board has a new door fitted, and has historic information added inside it about the barometer, Banff Brewery, and the Battery Green.
4) Propose that the two coilers currently stored in Macduff Shipyards yard in the Macduff Industrial Estate be shot-blasted and painted, and be erected at the harbour as a feature. One suitable location would be in front of the Harbour Master's office. (Originally suggested by Andy Kennedy).
5) Propose the erection of a general display panel about the history of Banff Harbour, located near NE58's building.
6) There has been talk of lighting up the harbour - propose the installation of lampposts on the Lighthouse Quay - same as on the East Quay.
